The purpose of the Thematic Unit SEC211 «Asymmetric Threats & Countermeasures» is to help the student understand the basic concepts in modern military systems, especially concerning sensors (such as radars and electro-optical systems), low observable designs, modern weapons, unmanned aerial vehicles, and unmanned combat aerial vehicles. The main idea is to present current developments in military technologies, focused mainly on the air domain, as well as to explore the defence against such modern threats, from an academic perspective. Each week, a new aspect of these technologies and approaches is presented and discussed, using appropriate examples and lessons learned from recent conflicts.
